The Head and The Heart – “Another Story”

The Head & The Heart’s newly released album, Let’s Be Still (Amazon MP3 & Spotify), is a bit poppy for our taste. But while Seattle-based band, which skyrocketed to fame following the release of its critically acclaimed and emotionally-charged self-titled indie debut, has without a doubt stepped further into the radio-friendly court, it’s not bad. The album’s first single, “Shake,” is not for this blog, but “Another Story” is another story. The song written by Jon Russell shortly after the Sandy Hook Elementary shooting features the kind of honest writing, gentler vocals, piano-over-violin-bridges that are more in line with the band we know. Does it end up sounding a little like Coldplay? Yes, but it works.
