Nashville-based Andrew Combs released a five-song EP back in 2010 called Tennessee Time (AmazonMP3). It was a fine first from the singer-songwriter, but the not nearly as impressive as a new single Combs released a couple weeks back called “Take It From Me.” The song is one of two that was released digitally on April 10th and will be released on vinyl on May 8th.
“Take it From Me” (Bandcamp & Spotify) will impress the fans of Dawes, Delta Spirit and Ryan Adams. It’s got a 70s-southern-rock-meets-Americana-blues sound that’s heavier on drums and electric guitar, accompanied by the powerful vocals of Combs. “Big Bad Love,” the other track on this short, short Combs collection, has more of a Texas badass sound.
Combs has a forthcoming debut full-length album that will feature more of the same, as well as some fine singer-songwriter tracks like “She’s Only Lonely” and “Come Tomorrow,” which have popped up on YouTube in the last year. Looking forward to that.
