Tift Merritt’s See You On The Moon

Among the good folks playing at Floydfest in Virginia this coming weekend is soulful singer-songwriter Tift Merritt. Merritt – a North Carolina girl now living in NYC – has received a fair amount of press for her fourth studio album, See You on the Moon (released in June), but is still relatively unknown to the masses. However, I think this will soon change.

Moon is a total classic. Merritt’s voice is amazing. The album is loaded with good tracks and a huge amount of diversity for a singer-songwriter album. “Mixtape” is more progressive (also awesome – see video below), but the traditionalists will love plenty of other songs on the album, such as the title track.

I’m wildly impressed and am not alone. Check out this gushing review from The New Yorker.  After Floydfest, Merritt will tour with heavy hitters David Gray and Josh Ritter and likely gain an even healthier fan base.
