Charlottesville’s Love Canon Makes the 80s Better Than They Were

I’ve been on an 80s kick lately. This past weekend I was back home in Richmond and my brother-in-law introduced me to Charlottesville-based Love Cannon, a bluegrass band that released its third Greatest Hits album of incredible 80s song renditions a few weeks back.  All three volumes (and it’s worth noting that all of the band’s albums are Greatest Hits) have surprisingly impressive instrumentation and brilliant song choices for a cover band from the decade of my youth.

Checkout the full albums below. Of note, Toto’s “Africa” (owned the vocals on that one) and “Axel F,” the theme song to Beverly Hills Cop, on Volume One and The Police’s “Everything Little Thing She Does is Magic” on Volume Two. On Volume Three, the band covers fellow Virginian Bruce Hornsby’s “The Way it is” and The Grateful Dead’s “Touch of Grey.”
