It was just about a year ago that I met The Falls for a drink in Darlinghurst and was instantly immersed in the Sydney folk scene. The failed romantic couple, yet brilliant musical couple made up of Melinda Kirwin and Simon Rudston Brown were about to head to SXSW for their first American tour. That trip proved to be a good call – paving the way for a stellar kickoff to this year.

In the last few weeks, the band moved to LA, performed at Sundance, signed with Verve Records and today releases their first EP in the US, Into The Fire (iTunes). The Falls will also play a sold out show at The Bowery Ballroom with Delta Rae next Tuesday, February 25th.

I’m still digging into the EP, but am already a big fan of its title track. This duo’s harmonies go together better than peas and carrots (and possibly the Civil Wars). Check it out below. Keep your eye on these guys.
