This Saturday, grass clippings is heading up to The Sinclair in Harvard Square for the first ever Deadly Gentleman’s Ball where The Gentleman will host progressive string band Joy Kills Sorrow, as well as guitar masters Chris Eldridge & Julian Lage.
Boston bluegrass band Della Mae was also originally on the bill, but the band later announced they’re heading to the Grammys this weekend instead. Their far from shabby replacement is Boston’s old time bluegrass badass Peter Rowan. Rowan, mostly a traditionalist who has recorded with the likes of Jerry Garcia, David Grisman and Father of Bluegrass Bill Monroe, adds some nice contrast to the night and will surely lead some collaborative encores at the close of the night.
The show sold out last week and got a nice feature today on WBUR. For a taste of the weekend, here are few vids of songs I’m hoping to see. Don’t forget to chant for this number and come say hey if you’ll be there.
