Last month Aoife O’Donovan released her solo debut, Fossils (Amazon MP3 & Spotify), on Yep Rock Records. One of the busiest girls in bluegrass and a testament to the fact that pretty things can live in Gowanus, O’Donovan previously performed with Crooked Still, but has also been recruited by loads of other artists to have her flawless voice appear on their albums (including The Goat Rodeo Sessions). Fossils is more of an Americana or alt-country album than O’Donovan’s previous work, which fell more in the bluegrass circle. The album is loaded with great tracks, but I’ve really focused in on “Thursday’s Child.” This is my new favorite song (MNFS).
P.S. Check out O’Donovan’s set on this week’s NPR Mountain Stage right here.
