Hey! You guys! It’s Women’s History Month! Contain your excitement. But THIS is pretty exciting, and directly relevant: in what has unintentionally stacked up to be an eerily perfect scenario, basically every act on this week’s must-see list features a badass female lead. So, instead of (only) reflecting on Susan B. Anthony and Betsy Ross, you can…
1) Reflect, in person, on the surly, smooth vocal of Sallie Ford (and the Sound Outside), who fearlessly brings back the feel and presence of old-school rock’n’roll, but pairs it with her own brand of lyrical edge. Fave = ‘Shivers,’ which you can watch her perform, below:
.
2) Wish you could be as cool as Brandi Carlile, with her cool hat, and cool upper-arm tattoos, and cool guitar, and … ugh. Case in point:
3) Go see Sufjan Stevens perform songs about outer space. This has nothing to do with women. And as far as we know, there aren’t any women in the show. But … I think all women would agree that we don’t care.
