Anthony D’Amato opens up for Kalob Griffin Band on Thursday at The Mercury Lounge

And we’re back. We took a few days off to do some shopping, get to know our families a bit better and enjoy some eggnog by the fire. Hope y’all had a folkin excellent Christmas.

You might think that there aren’t a ton of shows happening in the next week, but there are a few that are pretty notable. Here’s what we’ve got.

THURSDAY

9:30 – Kalob Griffin Band & Anthony D’ Amato at The Mercury Lounge – Philly’s Kalob Griffin Band comes from North of the Mason Dixon, but the band’s latest album, June Found a Gun, has a 70s southern Americana sound with Allman Brothers-style instrumentation and jam band style harmonies. Opening up the night is NYC singer songwriter Anthony D’Amato, who was one of a few wandering troubadours at Newport this past year. D’Amato’s released Paper Back Bones, his well-produced sophomore album, earlier this year, which followed his dorm-room-recorded yet and critically acclaimed debut.
