It doesn’t happen all that often that I get to gush about the amazing music of real-life friends on this thing. Today, though, is an exception due to the existence of Brooklyn’s own Bridget Davis, who’s celebrating the release of her debut EP at Rockwood Music Hall this Wednesday. If you’re a fan of the sweet, lilting voices and simple, honest lyrics of the likes of Aoife O’Donovan and Alison Krauss, Davis will grab you by the heartstring. The title track off the EP, “Trouble Comes in Threes,” is a good reflection of the EP as a whole when it comes to Davis’ uncanny ability to write songs that are equal parts heartwarming and heartwrenching – the guilty pleasure of a cynically hopeless romantic. Check out her songs on Bandcamp, which will be live with the EP on Tuesday, December 11. For now, below is an older acoustic recording of the title tune.

Luckily for everyone, you can see the awesome lady above at Stage 1 right before you head next door to Stage 2 for The Gregory Brothers’ annual Christmas show. It never ceases to be a hoot.

The remainder of the week also has a bunch of shows ripe for the picking, including Andrew Bird, John Fullbright, Aunt Martha and more. See you there!
