To a lot of New Yorkers (and beyond), the past week of Sandy and post-Sandy chaos has meant a lot of frayed nerves, cold bodies, dark streets and – not shockingly – canceled shows. But where live music is concerned – fear no longer. This week, Manhattan venues are predominately back and ready to rock.
There’s a pile of good stuff to see this week, but my two top picks are Thursday’s Field Report / Plume Giant show at Mercury Lounge, and Saturday’s lineup at The Rock Shop featuring the incomparable Margaret Glaspy. Do what’s right – vote yes to checking these folks out (I allot myself one pun per day).
Below, check out the video for what’s turning into one of my new obsessions, “I Am Not Waiting Anymore” by Field Report. Also, Margaret Glaspy’s Bandcamp is HERE and has a ton of awesome tuneness.
