clippings calendar: This Week’s Must-See NYC Shows

Blind Pilot

One of the bands I’m most excited to see at this year’s Newport Folk Fest is the above band — Portland-based Blind Pilot. I’ve had their latest album, We Are the Tide, in constant rotation with Sara Watkins’ newest release for the past few weeks and can’t get enough. Luckily, if you won’t be attending Newport you can still catch the act when they play Webster Hall tomorrow night … and tickets are still available. Whether you’re familiar with BP or not, check out their live performance of the awesome and bittersweet “New York.”

Also, if you’re into stacking up shows, The Welcome Wagon’s CD release show is happening at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Williamsburg, Brooklyn tomorrow, as well. It’s an early start at 7 p.m., not to mention a free show, so check it out. This duo and their band never disappoint.
