clippings calendar: This Week’s Must-See Shows in NYC

The Dirt Daubers
The Dirt Daubers play with Spirit Family Reunion at Mercury Lounge on Saturday, May 12.

Spirit Family Reunion isn’t an unfamiliar name on grass clippings, but The Dirt Daubers may be. Not for long. The trio hailing from Paducah, Kentucky and Nashville, Tennessee is all banjo-strumming, mandolin-picking deliciousness, and they’re playing with SFR on Saturday at Mercury Lounge. You can listen to and pick up a copy of their album ‘Wake Up Sinners’ on Bandcamp, plus watch the video to the title track below. Go check ’em out up close this weekend.

Also, we covered Horse Feathers’ awesome new album, ‘Cynic’s New Year,’ a couple weeks back, and this week the band is taking the stage in NYC at Bowery Ballroom on a ticket that pairs them with another great act – Brown Bird. Promises to be a tasty show — and tickets (as of last check) are still available, if you’re sitting on the fence.
