This Week’s Must-See Shows in NYC
Cutting to the chase this week: you should see each of the shows listed below. Impossible, you say? Fair enough. In that case, let novelty and your wallet be your guide.
The Guthrie Family Reunion is an awesome conglomeration of Guthries, and they’re playing a free show at SummerStage to celebrate what would be Woody’s 100th birthday. I, for one, can’t get enough of Sarah Lee Guthrie and husband Johnny Irion’s tunes, and the duo will be just one part of the crew on stage that night. Box up that franzia.
The Lowdown Hudson Blues Festival also kicks off this week, and Thursday brings the chance to see three amazing acts in one place: Neko Case, Charles Bradley, and He’s My Brother, She’s My Sister. Did I mention it’s free? It is. It’s free.
And finally, y’all really should make it out to 92Y tonight in Tribeca to see Zach Williams and The Bellow do what they do. Bonus: you’ll get done just in time to go catch Michael Daves do what he does at Rockwood Music Hall at 10 p.m. C’mon – do what ya do.
Check out this video of Zach and band doing it with “Teach Me to Know”:
