I first came across Darrell Scott with the every-song-kicks-ass-album he put together with Tim O’Brien entitled Real Time. Then I fell in love with his song, “You’ll Never Leave Harlan Alive” when I heard him sing it live with Tim…and then Patty Lovelace gave it a try.

Darrell’s new album Modern Hymns came out in August and is a splendid road trip for your soul with tracks that his singer/songwriter fans will love like “I Don’t Believe You”, “American Tune” and “Nobody Eats At Linebaugh’s Anymore”. “Out Among The Stars” and “Old Time Feeling” were my favorites mostly because they’ve got a gospel sound that made me feel like I was at church in the South while I was on the subway.

This album is on the pricey side, but so worth it. You will love it and so will your dad.
